Chicago, IL – On December 30th and 31st, Chicago will host one of the Midwest’s largest New Year’s Eve and Pre-New Year’s Eve parties. REACT will be hosting the ‘Reaction NYE’ event at the Donald E. Stephen’s convention center – a massive 580,000 sq. ft. warehouse event space south of Des Plaines, IL. This is a bit of a hike from the city, but it’s too big for downtown Chicago to contain. This two night event will showcase over 25 artists for more than 16 hours of your favorite electronica. The show breaks out into two separate nights, a pre-year and the New Year’s. The first night, December 30th, will be the night of Deadmau5. Night number two will have Skrillex running the show for New Year’s Eve.
This is going to be an interesting combination of performers. For those of you who haven’t been aware, Deadmau5 and Skrillex have been in a bit of a twitter feud (or just straight up fight) during the last few weeks. We were a little shocked to see them both on the same concert lineup due to the bad blood, but it seems that money can make people look past their differences. We’re strong supporters of the Mau5 here, but the 31st looks like a much stronger lineup. Local performers like Light.Em.Up and Celine Neon will get the night started. Chance the rapper and Cashmere Cat (along with many locals artists), will take then torch and run to pave the way for Skrillex to headline. It’s going to be a great show, and we’re definitely excited to see a full on Skrillex performance without Jack U. No disrespect to the great Diplo, but it’s always fun to see Skrillex go back to basics.
If you’re going to be in the Chicago area for New Year’s Eve and do not yet have plans, it’s certainly worth checking out. React always manages to put on a great show in this city and Reaction New Year’s Eve will surely be no different. Tickets are still available ranging from $89 a day to $130 for a two-day ticket.
